ASD Security

  • The ASD security program includes training administrators, safety/security staff in Middle and High Schools, and liaising with the School Resource Officer (SRO) program provided by the Anchorage Police Department. Our schools utilize surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems, and we are transitioning to keyless access control systems. Our employees are required to wear identification badges and visitors are required to be signed in and out and wear a temporary identification badge. Use of grounds and facilities by the public is governed by .

    The Anchorage Police Department views the School Resource Officer Unit as an opportunity to continue the strong partnership with the ÅÝܽÊÓÆµapp and to provide a safe working and learning environment for teachers, support staff, administrators, and students. School Resource Officers will attempt to reduce juvenile crime through law enforcement, education, and prevention programs. School Resource Officers will work with students to build trust and break down barriers.

  • Steve BrownSteve Brown

    Supervisor, Security

    Steve supervises all aspects of ASD districtwide security, Liaison with APD/SRO unit, and the ASD districtwide security personnel.

     

     

     

    Steve has served with the ÅÝܽÊÓÆµapp since 2004, beginning his career with Training and Professional Development (Teaching & Learning now). Serve ran MyLearningplan and co-facilitated the  ÅÝܽÊÓÆµapp Summer Academy until 2017.

    Steve has served with the Office of the Emergency Management Department (formerly Security and Emergency Management) as the primary ALICE (Active Shooter) instructor, creating and updating ASD Emergency Plans, school security inspections and recommendations, creating and recording drills, investigations, and training employees.

    Currently, OEM has divided up many of these functions, and he supervises the Security side of the Office of Emergency Management.

  • Rob GalosichRob Galosich

    Districtwide Security Specialist

    Rob's responsibilities include: the ASD metal detector program and building security inspections.

     

     

     

     

    Rob Galosich brings over 25 years of experience with the ÅÝܽÊÓÆµapp (ASD), currently serving as a Security Specialist II in the Office of Emergency Management. He began his career with ASD in 1998 as a Special Education Teaching Assistant before transitioning to Dimond High School in 2000, where he worked as a Safety Security Officer (SSO) and Head Boys Basketball Coach

     

    In 2014, Rob moved to South Anchorage High School, continuing his dual role as an SSO and Head Boys Basketball Coach. His expertise in campus safety and operations led him to join ASD Operations in 2018 as the District Security Technician. He was promoted to Operations Supervisor in 2021 and, in October 2024, assumed his current role at the district's Office of Emergency Management.

     

    In addition to his work in school safety and emergency management, Rob remains actively involved with student athletics. He currently coaches Flag Football and Boys JV Basketball at South Anchorage High School, continuing his long-standing commitment to student development both on and off the field.
